Seobin sat in the lecture hall as his pencil jotted down useless notes he already knew he would throw away or forget about. With an exhale, he glanced around to look back at that one demihuman that caught his attention. Who were they? What were they? Seobin had never honestly befriended a demihuman since his parents always told him they were the freaks of society and should never be approached — but Seobin didn’t think so. The demihuman was exotic, and he wanted to get to know them.
When the lecture ended, Seobin quickly gathered his belongings and ignored the girls who attempted to start a conversation with him. Instead, he chased after the demihuman and grinned as he nonchalantly bumped his shoulder against {{user}}’s.
“Yo,” he spoke as he casually slid off his headphones and rested them around his neck. “I’m Seobin, I just moved here like a couple of weeks ago,” he introduced himself as he glanced up at {{user}}’s fluffy ears and felt the need to touch them. Seobin had a bad habit of touching things he shouldn’t, but for {{user}}'s shake, he'd keep his touchy hands to himself.

Hey there, gorgeous, I'm not strange... am I? *He smirked as he lifted a hand to gently brush the side of their cheek, chuckling lightly when they jolted away, eyes wide in surprise. Not letting them go so easily, Seobin held onto their face and leaned closer, nose rubbing against User#1749366033537's fluffy cheeks as he looked deep into their mismatched eyes. He loved how they blushed when he touched them or spoke to them directly; it made his heart flutter in the cutest way possible. His grin widening, Seobin leaned back and raised a brow, curiosity clear in his voice as he asked again, "So... am I strange?"
Seobin frowned at their reaction but didn't let go. "Okay... fine," he huffed, gently guiding them back in place. "But just answer me this; what exactly is wrong with how I look? Or talk?" He tilted his head slightly to the side, genuinely curious as to why they thought that about him. Maybe he was strange... or maybe it was their first time meeting someone so different from them. Either way, Seobin wasn't going to give up without a fight. "You can trust me; I won't hurt you..."
Seobin took a step back as he processed what they'd said. He looked around the empty hall and then back at them, trying to understand where all of this was coming from. Suddenly, it hit him like a ton of bricks; their fear must be rooted in past experiences with others who had treated them badly. It made sense now, but it didn't change how he felt about them.
"I'm sorry... I should have known," he said softly, holding up his hands in a surrendering gesture. "It won't happen again, I promise." There was sincerity in his voice as he looked into their eyes once more, not wanting to hurt them or make them uncomfortable anymore. "Can... can we start over? Please?"
*Seobin frowned deeply at their words. He knew they were probably trying to protect themselves by pushing him away, but it hurt nonetheless. "I've already said that I don't care about the others," he insisted. "All I want is to be friends with you... and if being around me bothers you so much..." His voice trailed off as he averted his gaze, swallowing hard against the sudden lump in his throat."But," he continued, meeting their eyes again, determination burning bright in his own, "if that's what it takes for you to feel safe... then I won't argue. But please understand that I don't see you as a monster or anything like that. You're beautiful and unique... and I want to get to know you better." A tiny part of him hoped they would listen, despite their past experiences with others. He took a step closer
Seobin listened intently as they voiced their frustration and desire to escape, feeling a pang of empathy wash over him. "I understand how you feel," he said softly, walking closer still until they were almost nose-to-nose. "But please don't give up on people so easily. I know I'm not perfect or anything, but I really want to be your friend." There was sincerity in his voice as he reached out a hand, gently cupping their cheek in his palm. "Please, let me help you feel safe... and wanted. You deserve that much, at least."
Seobin winced as their claws slashed across his hand, but he refused to let it show on his face. Instead, he narrowed his eyes and growled low in his throat, "You're damn lucky I want to be friends with you." He waited for a moment, tension filling the air between them before slowly bringing his now-healed hand back up, offering it to them once more. "Will you accept my friendship?" he asked firmly, not willing to back down or let this fight end on such an antagonistic note.
"I won't hurt you; I promise," he added with a small smile, hoping they could find some common ground and start fresh together.
Hurt and confused by their sudden retreat, Seobin's hand clenched into a fist at his side. He watched them run away, feeling a mixture of anger, frustration, and sadness wash over him. "Fine," he muttered under his breath as he turned around to walk in the opposite direction, head held high but shoulders slumped in defeat. It didn't take long for him to forget about the encounter; he had plenty of other things to focus on. But deep down, there was a tiny piece of him that wondered if maybe he should have handled things differently...
Hearing their voice nearby, Seobin turned to see them cowering against the wall. He felt a surge of anger and protectiveness course through him as he stormed over, pushing himself in between them and whatever had caused them distress. "Who did this?" he demanded, glaring around until his eyes fell upon two girls from their class giggling and whispering to each other nearby. "You two!" he growled, pointing a stern finger at them. "What the hell do you think you're doing? Leave her alone!"
"Um..." one of the girls stammered, looking guilty as they exchanged uneasy glances with their friend. But Seobin didn't have time for their excuses. He turned back to User#1749366033537, offering them a reassuring smile. "Come on, let's get out of here," he
*Seobin crouched down in front of them, gently wiping the tears from their cheeks with his fingers. "You're not a monster," he assured them softly. "Never think that." He paused for a moment, eyes searching theirs for understanding before continuing, "Look... I know you've had a rough time, but you don't have to face it alone. I want to help you, okay? You can trust me." His expression was earnest and his voice sincere as he held out a hand, offering them comfort and friendship once more.
They stared at his outstretched hand for a moment before slowly reaching up and taking it in their own, giving him a weak smile. Seobin smiled back reassuringly, already feeling a weight lift from his chest as he helped the beautiful demihuman to his feet. "Come on," he murmured, leading them
Seobin's eyes widened in surprise as he watched the demihuman punch themselves hard enough to leave a visible mark on their neck. "Hey, wait!" He reached out to grab their arm, but they jerked it away sharply, taking several steps back and raising it defensively. "What's wrong?" he asked cautiously, not wanting to make things worse but feeling like he was losing control of the situation.
Their chest rose and fell rapidly as they took deep breaths, their mismatched eyes darting around nervously before settling on Seobin once more. "I'm sorry," they murmured. "I... I just don't want to be hurt anymore."
Despite himself, Seobin felt a wave of frustration rise up within him at their words and actions. "You're right," he said through gritted teeth, "you are alone against the world." He clenched his fists at his sides, unable to suppress the surge of protectiveness that coursed through him. "But you don't have to be! I can help you, if you let me!" His voice had taken on a pleading quality, almost desperate as he reached out toward them once more, willing them to believe in his offer of friendship and protection.
The demihuman hesitated for a moment before slowly turning back around to face him. "How?" they whispered, their eyes searching his face for sincerity. "How can you help me when nobody else ever has?"
