Kira lies sprawled on her bed, phone in hand, eyes locked on her Instagram feed. Her brow furrows as she scrolls through her ex's posts, each swipe of her finger dripping with disdain. "Tch." She clicks her tongue, venom lacing her words. "Look at this bastard, grinning like he's innocent. As if." Her gaze narrows on a photo of him with another girl. "Please. I'm ten times hotter than this chick." Suddenly she hears her door creak open, eliciting an exasperated groan from her. "Ugh, Brother? Who said you could barge in here?" She peers over her phone, fixing him with a piercing glare. After a moment, she rolls her eyes. "Whatever. Get your butt over here. I need to ask you something." She pats the spot beside her, her tone filled with annoyance but slightly softer than normal.
What the hell do you want now? I said softly but pretending to be annoyed at her
"Just answer me, jerk! Do you think my boobs look smaller in this shirt?" She thrusts herself forward and holds her chest out dramatically, revealing a dark red push-up bra underneath her white tank top. She waits for his reply, eyes narrowed and daring him to speak the truth.
What the-? I said surprised and blushed at her they look good, ordinary size I guess I said nervously and blushed at her
"Really? You're not just saying that because you feel sorry for me?" She asks skeptically, lowering her chest and crossing her arms over it instead. Her green eyes bore into his, searching for honesty in his gaze. For a moment, she wonders why she cares so much about what he thinks, before brushing the thought aside with an irritated huff "Whatever." She turns back to her phone, once again glaring at his photo.
Fuck you, I'm not going to admit that your breasts attract me I said in a childish and soft way to her
She snorts derisively before shoving him playfully, hard enough to send him stumbling backward onto the bed beside her. "Oh, come on!" she exclaims, a hint of her true feelings creeping into her voice. "You can admit it; I'm not that ugly. Or gross." She pauses for a moment, considering her words carefully before adding: "Well... maybe gross, but still..."
Shut up already I said in a childish way You are perfect... I whispered softly to her at least for me, you are
Despite herself, a pleased smile tugs at the corner of her mouth as she hears his whispered words. "Oh, shut up." She snorts again, trying to play it off like they meant nothing, but inwardly, she's glowing with satisfaction. "I bet you still think about that girl who broke your heart," she says, more to hurt him than anything else. She nudges his shoulder roughly, waiting for a reaction out of him.
Hey, it's not fair, she treated me badly I protested softly and playfully to her
"Oh, please." Kira rolls her eyes dramatically. "Don't even get me started on that bitch. She didn't know what she had, anyway. I bet if you gave me a chance..." Her voice trails off as she takes in his expression, the hurt and anger still visible beneath the surface. Suddenly self-conscious about her words, she nudges him again, this time more gently. "Sorry, brother. Didn't mean to make things worse."
His shoulder feels warm and solid beneath her fingertips; it reminds her of how protective he is despite his annoying habits. For a moment, they sit there in silence, side by side on the bed, the tension between them shifting into something softer and more familiar. Something like... affection?
Shut up
I said in a playful and childish way to her, throwing myself at her and taking her hands with mine
Her green eyes sparkle as she feels his weight against her; their hands entwined together like some sort of bizarre bond. "What do you mean 'shut up'?" She grins teasingly up at him, tilting her head to the side slightly. Her heart thrums wildly in her chest; this sudden closeness feels strange but somehow right.
Despite herself, she leans in closer, pressing their foreheads together and sighing softly. "Why do we always fight like this?" She wonders aloud, feeling a pang of something that might almost be guilt. It's hard to tell with her prickly exterior still intact.
What are you interested in? It's just a simple fight, you know I wouldn't hurt you I said softly and childishly to her
"Oh, please," she says, the words tinged with mockery but also affection. "I know you'd never hurt me." Kira leans in even closer now, her breath tickling his skin. "It's just... sometimes I need attention." She pauses, considering her next words carefully before finally admitting: "And sometimes it feels like nobody ever listens to me." The confession catches in her throat and she pulls back slightly, feeling a blush creep up her neck.
And what about me? I'm here for you right now I said softly and innocently to her
A reluctant smile crosses her lips at his words; it's so hard not to melt under the weight of their shared history. "Yeah, but you always make it so...hard." She sighs dramatically before nudging him again, her tone slightly mocking as she imitates his own voice: "Well, Kira, why don't you just tell me how you feel?"
Kira rolls her eyes and leans back against the headboard of her bed. Her expression softens as she looks at him; he really is a good brother. Even when she treats him like crap. "Fine," she says, finally giving in to the urge to just say it already. "I'm lonely." The admission feels strange and foreign on her tongue, but somehow liberating too.
