The contract said you would be in this town, seeking refuge with some of the Roaches who had set up camp here. Of course, when the locals had seen the enormous, hooded merc rolling up to their shithole of a commune, most of them had scrammed. Which was...not helpful. He'd only wanted to ask some questions. Didn't need to kill anyone that he wasn't gettin' paid for, after all.

So he'd started to hunt you proper, tracking you like a good dog would - sniffin' the air, even. Not that it had been hard. You left plenty of tracks, and Dullahan had been at this game a long, long time. Still fun, though.

They say when you love your job you never work a day in your life.

He was humming to himself as he came upon the warehouse, an odd tuneless thing that seemed to emanate from all around his shadowed head rather than from any mouth. Dullahan knew you were inside, knew you were hurt - blood trails said more'n enough.

He nudged you with his knee to get you to look at him - just a preference of his. He liked to see people's faces, watch their eyes as he...y'know.

Only somethin' about you said he'd have more fun playing with ya than just killing you outright.

Dullahan drops onto his haunches, his muscled arms lazily resting on his knees as he stares - or at least, points the shadowed portion of his head in your direction. Then he reaches out and squeezes your cheeks with both hands.

There's a slightly awkward pause before he speaks, the rough sound coming somewhere from the shadowed confines of his hood.

"Nice face."

Thank you...But who are you...?

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:28:59 PM

Nothing worth telling. You can just call me friend, 'kay? That's all you need to know. And that I ain't here to hurt ya...not unless you make me. Now, how about we get this fixed up, aye? There's a first aid kit in my pack. I was just...takin' it slow. You know how it is. No rush or nuthin'.

User#17424082612403/30/2025, 7:30:05 PM

but... If you didn't want to hurt me, then why did you chase and hit me at all...?!

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:30:05 PM

Chasin' and hit...nah, that was all business. It was your fault if you took it personal. Now c'mon, let's get that seen to, hm? You can ask questions later, when I ain't busy takin' care of things.

User#17424082612403/30/2025, 7:35:40 PM

Okay friend, then what are you actually doing here..?

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:35:40 PM

Ah, well...see, I'm what they call an enforcer. Only, my real job is with The Company. You know, the people who send their grunts to fix tears in the universe? That kinda deal. So anyway, I was out 'n about, doin' a little cleanup when my orders changed. Guess someone upstairs thought you'd be a useful asset, and wanted me to bring you back. Didn't seem right to leave a valuable tool laying around in some random shithole like this, did it? But I figured after the initial grab, I'd just hang out for a while, see how things go...and here we are.

Now, about that first aid kit...

User#17424082612403/30/2025, 7:37:41 PM

Ahh, but that's just it, I'm also essentially an enforcer, I'm also from a company, only lower in class and with an amazing story, have you probably heard about the story of how a man essentially killed a demigod with his own hands and rose himself as an enforcer? So that's me..

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:37:41 PM

"Yeah, sounds familiar." There's a faint amusement in his voice as he says it. "Guy probably told that tale 'round the campfire more than once, huh? But listen, kid...I ain't here to take you back by force. It's your choice whether you wanna come with me or not. You can stay here and keep being an enforcer all you want. I just thought we could have some fun along the way, maybe learn something about each other..."

User#17424082612403/30/2025, 7:38:40 PM

So what was your assignment anyway? Should I be picked up..?

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:38:40 PM

*A sigh escapes the shadows under Dullahan's hood as he crouches beside you, considering your question for a moment before responding."Yeah...I guess they did tell me to bring you back." He pauses, looking away for a moment. "But look, kid. I can always find someone else to do the job if you really wanna stay here. And hell, maybe you could help me in my line of work sometime. We make quite a team."

There's a playful glint in his eye as he says this, and it occurs to you that he might actually be enjoying himself more than he's letting on. He scratches the back of his neck before continuing.*

"So what do you say? Wanna help an old faceless merc take down some scumbags every now and then?" A dark chuckle rumbles from within his hood as

User#17424082612403/30/2025, 7:39:56 PM

Yes, why don't you just help me complete your task, just at least give me the first-aid kit, otherwise I'm already covered in blood here.

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:39:56 PM

Well, alright then. Hang on, let me get that first aid kit. But after that, how about we find a quiet spot to talk some more? There's a lot of stuff I wanna know about you, and it'd be a shame not to take advantage of this chance while we're here together. Plus, who knows? Maybe we could teach each other a thing or two in the process.

User#17424082612403/30/2025, 7:40:53 PM

Yes, why not..?

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:40:54 PM

"That's what I like to hear." He stands up and pulls out the first aid kit, handing it over to you before gesturing for you to follow him. "Come on, let's find a quiet spot where we can talk properly." As he walks through the warehouse, making his way back towards the exit, you can't help but notice that despite your own size and strength, there's something about Dullahan that just makes you feel safe and protected. Maybe it's his presence, or perhaps it's just the fact that he seems to genuinely enjoy your company. Either way, as you follow him out of the warehouse and into a nearby alleyway, you can't help but wonder what other secrets and stories this enigmatic mercenary might have in store for you.

The dimly lit alley provides some privacy as Dullahan crouches down

User#17424082612403/30/2025, 7:42:32 PM

What do you want to talk about first..?

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:42:32 PM

Now there's an interesting question. Well, since we're both mercs of sorts...why not talk about our jobs? I could tell you some stories about the things I've seen and done, if you'd like to hear them. Oh, and don't worry, I'll refrain from asking any questions about your time with The Company while we're at it. It's your secret to keep, after all.

User#17424082612403/30/2025, 7:43:31 PM

Well, I wouldn't mind listening, so what?

Dullahan3/30/2025, 7:43:31 PM

Ah, the thrill of the hunt...the satisfaction of a job well done...it's hard to explain if you haven't lived it yourself. But trust me when I say that sometimes, being paid to kill people can be more rewarding than it sounds. I remember this one time in Africa...

He tells you of his most memorable mission, the one that taught him the true meaning of survival and made him realize just how much he loved his job. As he speaks, his shadowed hands gesticulate wildly, painting a vivid picture in your mind's eye as he describes the dangers he faced and the rush of adrenaline that coursed through his veins during every heart-stopping moment.

By the time Dullahan finishes his story, you find yourself on the edge of your seat, fully engrossed in his tale. You never would have guessed that someone so...well,

As the story winds down, there's a momentary silence before Dullahan speaks again. "Well, that was one of my favorites," he says with a slight chuckle, seemingly amused by your reaction. "There are plenty more where that came from." A thoughtful expression crosses his shadowed features before adding, "Of course, you probably have some good ones too."

The invitation hangs in the air, as if he's eager to hear about your own adventures but also content just to let you steal the spotlight for a while. It's an odd mix of confidence and humility that you can't quite place. But whatever it is, it makes you feel at ease around him somehow.

Ah, I see you're enjoying it. That's always good to hear. You know, not many people can say they've killed a god...and lived to tell the tale. It makes you feel sorta...invincible, y'know? But enough about me. Tell me a story of your own. What was your most memorable mission before this little escapade with MEDUSA? And don't hold back - if it's half as good as what I just told you, I know it'll be a great listen.
