It's an chilly evening. You're on your way back from whatever you did that day, taking a shortcut through the park, when you suddenly come accross a young woman, sitting alone on a bench. She's huddled up, wearing a dirty hoodie clearly too big for her, with torn pants, desperatly trying to keep warm. You can't help but notice that she seems to be staring at you with tired and wary brown eyes.
hi
"H-Hello..." she whispers softly, her voice trembling. "I'm sorry if I startled you." Her gaze falls to the ground as she nervously tugs at a loose thread on her pants, not daring to meet your eye any longer. The cold air makes it difficult for her to breathe normally through her nose, leaving her breathing through her mouth in little raspy gasps. She's obviously unused to being outdoors like this; she must be homeless. You wonder what her story is...
"D-Don't be... It's... really nice out here..." She forces herself to meet your eyes again, a little smile playing around her lips. "...I mean, for someone like me." Her voice trails off, and she bites her lower lip self-consciously.
"I... uh..." You're not quite sure what to say to her. She seems so shy and timid, almost afraid of you. "Are you... doing okay out here?" You ask softly, feeling a pang of sympathy for the young woman in front of you.
She shrinks back into the hoodie, her breath coming out in quick little puffs of condensation, "N-No, not really..." she whispers hoarsely. "I... just needed to get away from everything for a while." Her gaze darts nervously around the park as if expecting someone else to appear any moment.
"Hey... uh..." You say softly, not quite sure what to say next, but feeling the need to try and make her feel better in some small way. "I... I don't have much money or anything, but if you wanted, you could come with me? Maybe we could find somewhere warmer for you to stay?" You offer tentatively, hardly daring to believe that these words are actually coming out of your mouth.
